MG42 lafette disassembly

Post by bmwr12 »

Does anyone know how to remove part B from the tripod picture? I need to make a new piece so my Wiselite M53 will fit in my mount. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks

How much is it off? Are you sure it's not just too much paint? Sounds silly, but after I blasted and repainted mine, the gun was a tight fit until the paint wore off of the mating surfaces, LOL.

I think I would modify the block on the bottom of the gun before I modified a Lafette 42. Do you have a Dremel tool? Just sayin' ...

It is off more then the paint, i would say about a 1/2" or so. The block on the gun is further up on the wiselite since the reciever is longer.

Isn't the extra length added on at the rear of the receiver on the WL guns?

Anyhow, I took a look at my Lafette 42. That block looks like it's rivited on - right through the center with one rivit.
