Lafette Pads replacement question

Hi guys, does anyone know the thickness or specification of leather used for replacing canvas Lafette pads with leather ones...?

Any help/suggestions/pictures gratefully accepted. Thanks guys

Good article about replacing the Lafette "pads" over on the French MG34MG42 Board......in their "restoration-section.

I bought a scrap piece of brown leather on Amazon and brought it to an upholstery shop and had them do it. I also brought another Lafette mount for them to copy from. I had them use the old horse hair padding. It came out really nice.
