Tapco Mount
Tapco Mount
Has anyone bought a tri pod mount from Tapco?
Tapco Pods
Yes, I ordered one and I have to say it is a thing to behold. It came in its orginal create, packed in a sealed bag with the scope. It looked brand new. If you need some pictures I can send them to you or up load them....

Here is a link to TAPCO's webpage on the Tripod. "big mark" said it straight; they are "thing to behold"! http://www.tapco.com/product_list.asp?dept=216&last=216
This is probably the best tripod I have ever seen for a shooting platform. They are a much better design and construction than the original WWII Lafette.

MG3 Tripod
WHOA, I knew this would be happening when these great tripod are drying up!
Since TAPCO is out, I have no idea who has them in stock. I looked at Northridge Internantional and they are showing them in the $500 range wihtout optics, then showing the optics for sale at $150! Looks like the days of the $400 tripod is over.
My suggestion is to take a look at all the auction sites and see what is there. Good Luck!

I am SO HAPPY I lucked into the Lafette deal on 1919a4.com!
It's a little dinged up and the back pad needs patching, but it functions perfectly!
I love the way it folds up. My wife was bitchin' because I had it set up in the middle of the garage. She stepped in the house for a minute and I folded it up. She came back out and asked where it went.
(In her defense, I had four tripods set up playing with them. You couldn't hardly walk through the garage :P )

Abwehr - the days of the $400 tripod????? I got mine with optics and light box, new in the aluminum foiled sealed bag for $300. Then I paid $70 for a manual and started learning how to translate. I've only used my Lafette for the MG42, but with all the adaptations that everyone is coming up with, I'll be good to go even with a revolver if this keeps up.

1919 on MG-42 tripod
Here is one of my setups..drool all you want..I paid 349.00 from Tapco last fall..No optics...1919 A4 semi 308..And for all you sharp guys..that is a MG-3 Feed tray mod'd hanging off the side

Tripod
John,
Yea, I got my H and K tripod from Sportsmans Guide a couple of years ago when they first advertised them. The price was $275 less the club discount and mine was new in the box with all accessories. It had to happen that the supply would dry up and the price will now only continue to climb like the original 1919A4 tripods.
I use mine for the MG42 and I have an adapter for the 1919, but moslty I use the Vickers Tripod for the 1919 anymore. Your translations of the Tripod manual sure made it easy to be able to set the scope mount to zero in the scope!
