I am pretty sure this is a bog standard AA tripod - with a non-military made MG42 adaptor affixed.
I have photographed the only marking I can find on it, which looks post-war to my novice eyes - Oct 1966?
Would love some info. on it. *It came with a dummy M53 and WW2 ammo holder, classifieds ad, negotiated before seeing them in the flesh - they will make OK props.
I found Bergflak's resource for Lafette's, if there is a resource for the AA tripods please post a link.
With a NSN stock number on it, 12 is Germany, it is for the MG-3 series before they did away with the AA Tripod. There is no issue AA tripod for them in the German army at this time.
"""with a non-military made MG42 adaptor affixed""" --- Well as it sits it's a Germany AA-Tripod made for the MG42 or MG-1 or MG-2 or MG-3 or a m-53 can be used on it. No - adaptor on it. It's MG-42 ready to go.
42rocker, the welds just looked so poor on the adapter/head, I didn't think they were military - perhaps just a different era to the rest of the piece.
The MG42 and M53 fit fine on it.
I know it's not too exciting, just curious about it really.
