I have a question:
GHow does one spot a fake MG42 AA sight what should one look for?
How to spot fake AA sight?
Re: How to spot fake AA sight?
In my opinion -
It's pretty hard to identify high-quality fakes of the AA-Ladders.
Old fakes often leakin some accuracy in the point oft correct blueing/pcc . Same to the finish of production. Some fakes are fully 'handmade', leakin the signs of industrial stamping etc...
But actually there's no way to prove,
that some AA-Ladders are genuine parts or pre WW2-Fakes...probably most AA-Ladders on the market (even in europe) are fakes!

Re: How to spot fake AA sight?
The first question, is that about front or rear aa sights??? The front sight has been copied and copied over again. I would guess that 90% are repo's (seat of the pants guess, but). As far as the rear aa sight ladder I have not seen enough out there. With a lot of folks interested in that rear aa site and not a lot listed evil bay or whatever I don't believe that there are a lot of copies out there, yet..
My thoughts, whats yours on this.
Also on the front aa sights that I have seen the repos do not seem to have a slight bevel cut at the bottom of the post. Real ones have that slight bevel at the bottom.
Also if your thinking about using one, a repo might be the way to go due to the cost and possible getting the real one damaged.

Re: How to spot fake AA sight?
I am mostly inquiring about the front sight, as you have stated thee seem to be not to many of the rear ones out there or any appreciable fakery as of yet.
I had been conned on a few fakes awhile back and it hurt me quite a bit in the pocket book and I want to get an original but I am trying to make sure not to fall for the same mistake twice.
I have not seen an orignal up close enough or long enough or next to some of what the fakes are to tell the differences in what is real and what is fake at some point I hope I can do so; so I can tell.

KMFDM
Try to also look at mg34 sights for the marking as I believe they are marked about the same.
Good Luck on this.
Anyone out there got any great detailed photos??
