Odd Barrel Carrier?
Just picked up a barrel carrier, but it's different...it looks like a typical Laufschutzer carrier, but is shorter in length, and from what I can tell has no markings (they may be hiding under the postwar repaint job, but I doubt it). Anyone have any ideas? I'm on the road right now, so can't post photos. It's probably 4-5 inches shorter in length, won't fit a standard barrel, was maybe thinking it was for an MG34S, but honestly don't have a clue as I have never seen one like this. Chris....

It could possibly be a 34/S. Need to see some pics.

Two more... I haven't found any markings yet, they may be under the Yugo repaint, but unsure??? Chris....
Re: Odd Barrel Carrier?
MG-42 Barrel-Assembly should fit in that as IMA was selling these ("Yugo") MG-42 Barrel-Carriers several years ago w/MG-42 Barrels in them.
When you lay the barrel in it, make sure that the barrel-extension is oriented so that it seats on that projection inside the carrier (looks similar to a "tab" but keeps the barrel from shifting).

PS: A carrier for the MG34/41 (MG34S) would be similar to the MG34 barrel-carrier but possibly shorter and made for the larger diameters of the MG34/41 Barrel at both ends.

I have one very similar-the sling is a bit differant, and the semi-circular clip you have is not in mine. The one I have is brand new,and is a Yugo product-large part numbers on the outside 12-124-8524 The 42/53 barrel fits as Richard describes. ---bil

Re: Odd Barrel Carrier?
Thanks for the info guys, I appreciate it! Kinda odd when you haven't seen one before, Chris...
Re: Odd Barrel Carrier?
Bil! Yours ain't Yugo, it is Bundeswehr! 12-124-8524 is a Nato stock number, "12" denoting German manufacture (if it had been "00" or "01" it would have been US madeBil wrote:I have one very similar-the sling is a bit differant, and the semi-circular clip you have is not in mine. The one I have is brand new,and is a Yugo product-large part numbers on the outside 12-124-8524 The 42/53 barrel fits as Richard describes. ---bil
