Kleist,
Looks good......and appears that you may have enough for 2-3 good/easy builds.........maybe even 4 if you have really good welding skills. Do the semi-only "mods." first...then the "build".

Last.......if you sell what MG34 pieces you don't need here on the "Board".....(after sorting out what you want to use).....ask what they should be selling for now that IMA is out of them....before you post the ad.

Also, did you get these from IMA ?.....or the last of what FAC (aka: Guns & Things) had?

Regards, RichardS.

receivers

Post by ChrisPCook »

I hope mine look as good, I got two from IMA, they're sitting in Colorado, I live in Alaska and won't see 'em until at least late April! I have two questions, and if some one would like you can PM with additional info.....
1) What is the total overall length of the receiver, I think this has been posted before, so I should be able to dig it up fairly easily.
2) What are folks doing for a bolt block on these receivers? Also, what are the mods being done (that work) for a gripstick cutout so the FA gripstick doesn't go in? The more precise info you can provide the better for us newbies...thanks, Chris.

Thanks for the reply.
These are IMA. I posted pics for the guys on chat to see last night. Pirate has first dibs on my left overs but he hasn't replyed yet.

If you look at pic 156, I ordered the top 2 first. Then I found out you could "hand select" for $10. I thought I got the wrong ones to re-weld so I ordered the bottom 2 "hand jobs" one is broke, the other is bent. They don't look any better then the first two. The broke one is cut with a dif angle but I don't see how you could interchange the parts to get over lap. Would be better off just welding the sets together as is. One of them has the threads fk'd from slag dripping down.

I have 2 parts kits on the way and wanted recvr's. I was going to return the first set, or keep the best 2, but now that they ran out I don't want to return. I'm guessn these will pop up again at some point??

They look like the set I got a few months ago. really cut hard. What I had planned on doing is using sections to make fillers for the big gaps. you need to pick out the best 2 sets you want then find a set to make fillers out of. you should be able to get 2 receivers out of 3 sets.

I'd be shocked if I.M.A. got anymore of these type cut receivers again. When I ordered mine over three months ago they had told me they had only imported a small lot of just over 100 of these receivers and they weren't sure if they would get this style nice cuts again.Back in the day,Inter-ordnance was selling two-cut receivers for only $100.

Same same. Would be nice to see these pic's again. I got what I think will be overlapping rec. cuts. ( just got one from IMA for 220.00) handselect. About 1 1/2" to work with on the front and back. Hope Pirate starts his tutorial soon. I'm off to HF this morning to buy my Tig welder and bottle of argon. Look forward to learning how to weld properly.
