Picture 1. This should be easy. Someone in this pic did not read the manual. What is wrong here?

Picture 2. This may be a little harder, unless some cheater remembers this from another board. I took this picture at the Armed Forces Museum in Oslo. This scene depicts the German invasion of Norway in 1940. There is a mistake in the display. Can you spot it?

First pic: Obviously the guy was not properly instructed on how to carry the MG34.
Second pic: The scope on the Lafette looks a little hinky... what type is it?

I should have known who would figure out the two pics.
Here is a close up of the sight in the second pic. A sight that did not exist in May, 1940. Good job!!

On the Display Lafette, look at the Back Pads, they appear to have the post war canvas covering. Didn't the German MG34 Lafettes only have leather coverings for the pads?

Tom,
I have seen photos of a camo cloth being used as a field repair, so you are correct. The one in the display looks an awfully lot like the Yugo rebuilds with the green canvas.

While the pads may not be original, I think the lafette has original field grey paint. Also, Norway had so much German equipment at the end of the war I would not think the museum would have to use a Yugo rework for their display.

Ed,
Yep, I noticed that too! This is probably not a Yugo rework, but the canvas pad covers don't appear to be original, which was my point. I am sure the pad covers had to be changed often dut to getting torn from the abuse they had to take in combat. I sure would take the Lafette, with or without leather covers, LOL
On this subject, I removed the canvas covers on my Lefette Saturday. I has some very nice doeskin leather and I used the canvas cover as a pattern to cut new leather ones. My wife did not like the idea of using her sewing machine to sew the leather, so she will take them to a local shoe shop and have the corners sewn up for me. The owners of the "cobblers shop" are German! This will make it nice to have Germans make the new pads. Not sure when I can get them sewn onto the backing plate. I have to get soem correct thread and a needle for hand sewing.
