Hi all,
I'm new to the forum but not to collecting, just thought I'd show my recently acquired MG34 and Lafette.
Both were bought from Tony Budge at Rytonarms (U.K.) and were recently obtained from Russia.
The MG34 is a BNZ (Steyr-Daimler-Puch AG) made in 1941 (weren't they all?) and the Lafette is a FSU (Brandenburger Fahrrad u Motorradwerk Gmbh) dated 1942.

What a nice looking setup you have there, simply beautiful.

I bought a Lafette 34 from Tony and it's good that he was able to get those out of Russia.

I agree with you that Tony does a good job in obtaining Russian war booty for us collectors. Only trouble is it seems to take ages when dealing with the Russians. I had been waiting over 6 months for my MG34 but it was worth the wait and besides I couldn't find one in the same condition for the same money anyway.

I stripped the Lafette of its Russian paint and found the remains of both tan and bluegrey underneath, bluegrey being the factory colour on top of the red primer and then repainted tan. There wasn't enough of the original paint to keep it so it was all remove and repainted.

How was your Lafette, was it covered in thick Russian paint as well?

Welcome Tommy!

I also bought one of the lafettes that Tony brought here from Russia. It is a 1939 that was covered with a thick layer of gren gray paint that probably preserved it from the ravages of its Soviet internment. It is being restored by the USA's emminent restorer Ryan Schnee (zwillingsockel).
BTW Mr. Budge is a very personable chap who goes out of his way to please, and is very patient with his customers. The limiting factor in his dealings with the russkies are the russkies themselves. It is a miracle how he gets these relics out.

I hope you will post some pictures of your Lafette when its completed!

I couldn't agree more about Tony Budge, he certainly goes the extra mile to please his customers.
I was after a MG34 made by Steyr (BNZ) because that's the manufacturer of my other German weapons, and he came up trumps even though they are relatively scarce with only around 7,000 manufactured (source Myrvang).

It will be interesting to see what else is going to come out of Russian in the months and years ahead.

So, I'm inundating the forums with tons of questions, but I've been buying MG34 stuff like a madman for the past week, my wife is going to KILL me!!!!!! Or at a minimum I'll be selling off some 1903's and maybe a P38 to finance all of this. Anyhou.....I am assuming that these would run around 1000$ shipped from the UK to the US? Is that correct? Are these all complete? Any cheaper sources here in the good ol USA? Is 1000$ too steep, or right in line with the current market prices? Thanks for your time....Chris....

i think the mg34 lafette is 1000-1200+ look around in alaska my ffl hunts there and he says the things you find in gunshops there boggles the mind

Thanks for the link Tommy, everybody is providing me w/ tons of info, so I should have some great resources here before too long being a . Tom R- Alaska is hit and miss, if you go to the gun shows you can strike gold by talking to everyone and networking, but the tables are usually pretty weak, and things tend to be overpriced. On the other hand, about every gun show I go to I come home w/ one gem....last gunshow I brought home a K43 Duv 44! The stock had been slightly sporterized (I already fixed that and it looks like a duffel cut now), and I picked up 3 mags with the deal for 800$!!!! I also have scored some other goodies that would blow your mind. It's probably like finding a job....network,network,network..... Chris..... Gun shops in the Anchorage area where I live have pretty well been picked over....
