Thanks very much for posting tose pics for me. Any comments would be welcome. The pics were taken in Norway before I bought it. It is marked 1938 and then in a triangle are the marks S and under that the numbers 828 and a Waffen eagle with number. The Waffen eagle is in several places on the tripos and the leather carry pads are original. No optics.

Can anyone comment on the maker of this Lafette?

Paint looks original and is correct for a 1938 dated Lafette. I think the triangle S mark stands for "Brandenburger Fahrrad u Motorradwerk", also known as "Excelsior." I think if you look closely you may see that the 828 is really 323, or maybe S323, That is the code for Excelsior.

The bright annodized aluminum parts are also correct: these were not painted origianally and when painted, almost always indicate a post war repaint.

From the pics it looks like a very nice tripod. Please don't hack or paint on it like some guys on this site like to do.

Ed S,

Ryan Schnee has my 1939 34 lafette for restoration. Being an ex-Leningrad mount freed by Ryton Arms UK, I am wondering what color paint scheme he should use once the gooey green russian paint is removed.
It is a 1939, which probably means the type of camo pictured above is not correct. Should this be Fieldgrey or tropical tan?
I think the latter was not used in Operation Barbarrossa.
Your comments would be appreciated.
