WTK: Oprod Catch / Safety Intstall

Has anyone moded the oprod catch/safety lever to work in the semi? I am thinking to weld across the flat and grind all the way around and perhaps open up the hammer lever to provide additional clearance. Any one had troubles doing this, I thought that the pin may be too small in diameter to handle the bolt/spring pressure.
