Dust cover door installation

Post by GrrArgh »

Does anyone have any pictures of how the dust cover door is installed on an MG34. The notches in the receiver and cover on mine would mean that with the door, with the spring installed, would be forced open. There is no latch that would hold the door closed like on the AR15. Thanks...
BTW, I have an IMA kit assembled on a TNW semi receiver and it is one of the coolest looking things ever..

The ejection port cover looks like this when installed (right = forward):

The wire that acts as a hinge pin for the cover has it's forward tip 1/8" into a hole located in the camming piece body, and the rear end does a double 90 degree bend into a slot alongside the trigger grip assembly, where it cannot be pulled out without first removing the grip body.

For more pictures of the MG-42 parts up close and disassembled, go to my website and look here:

There is a spring in the front of the 34 grip that holds the dust cover shut. When you pull the trigger this allows the spring to disengage from the door.

Thanks!! found the latch in the grip stick wasn't engaging the cover. So I tried bending it a bit and it promptly broke...

Any quick fixes for a broken door cover latch?

Thanks
