dot 40 mg34

i read in the mg34/42 book that mg34's were not made until 1941 for the dot code. I have a barrel with the dot 40 markings on it. any thoughts?

"dot" factory made some spares barrels before to mannufacture MG34s.
and
"dot" made MG42 barrels but never produced any MG42s.
