Alright, how do you replace this darn thing? I've got another door, spring, and all, but how the heck do you get this little thing off of here??

I was out shooting my MG34 the other day, and boom, while we were shooting, for no reason I can figure out, my door just broke right in half. Boom. It didn't affect the rest of the day, or another shooting session, but I don't like it just hanging there broken in half. I'd like to replace it. Anyone ever had this happen before???

It sounds like the spring wire thing in front of your trigger housing is not working properly.When you pull the trigger it moves back letting the dust cover pop open.It sound like it did not open when you fired the weapon and when it injected the empty case the cover was closed and the force of the empty case injecting broke your dust cover.Before you replace the dust cover you need to see if the wire latch is moving back when the trigger is pulled.If it is working you need to take the grip stick off the receiver and take a small punch to the front of the receiver were the dust cover rod is and drive it back to the rear of the receiver.You will figure it out from there your self.

To reinstall the door, you have to take off the entire grips stick. The front end of the wire that is the door hinge is held in a hole in the camming piece while the rear end has a couple angle bends and is trapped in a notch of the receiver by the grip stick housing. The trick is to install the coile spring for the door such that it tries to force the door open. You have to use a needle nose pliers to place one end of the spring onto the inside surface of the reciever at the very edge of the door opening. The other end presses against the door, forcing it open. The entire door is held shut by a latch on the door. If the door is closed, cocking the gun moved the bolt rearward and the bottom of the bolt forces the door open. The spring swings the door fully open.

Brian at BRP in Clinton, MD has the whole kit - door, spring and rod - for $5. He has a lot of parts that aren't listed on his site, best to get this stuff while it's still available...Phil
