I am looking to to get the nicest possible MG34 parts kit I can, and I was wondering how the kits from MG34.com (Allegeny Arsenal) stack up to the kits from BRP Guns?? THe Grade A kits from BRP are about $100 more than AA and I was wondering if it is worth the money??

PErhaps we can have someone take a closeup of the metal condition on the barrel jacket of the Allegheny 34....unless things have changed, they are nice....but heavily buffed and reblued nice.

Are all of the Allegheny MG34 kits heavily buffed/polished?? I don't mind the blueing being re-finished but I would rather pay the extra $100 for a kit that hasn't been heavily re-worked. Buffing and polishing always seems to mess up the markings.

well the buffing not only messes up the maker marks it removes the drawling lines from the barrel shroud and takes the sharpness away from the holes in the barrel jacket, mine is from neither of those sorces so .....

I just got back from my trip to Colorado, all my kits and accessories are in Colorado, while I'm living up in Alaska.... Anyways, my AA kits have been sitting there for months waiting for me to open them. I got two kits, they are both really nice, and yes they appear totally reblued, and they are covered in gobs of cosmoline! Every nook and cranny is covered with cosmo!!!! But, I was really pleased for the price. One kit had mismatched numbers, but had a beautiful wood stock that looks awesome, w/o any serial numbers embossed on it. The other kit had a couple of serial number line outs, but still was very nice. I would buy from them again if I was to get another kit, they have top notch customer service. I'm sure BRP is nice as well, I just haven't seen one of their kits yet. Chris......

When we are talking about "condition".....it would help some members looking for particular Parts-Kits from vendors if the information was broken down into catagories or a better discription of what you have was submitted to the Board and from what "Vendor" .......and TomR is correct....buffing/refinishing does take away those milling-marks from "military-weapons".

1: Matching or Non-Matching Serial-Numbers:

A: Original-Manufacturer's serial-numbers.
B: "Re-Numbered" Parts in Kit....these usually include "lined-out" numbers......etched/re-stamped numbers where the "font" does not match the other parts numbers.
C: "Forced-Matched"......again....re-numbered-parts where the old numbers on the parts were lined-out/XX-over-stamped/removed and then new "matching-numbers" were etched or stamped on. A lot ("Most") MG34 Parts-Kits fall into this catagory as they were captured during and at the end of WWII and then rebuilt/refinished.

NOTE: In this area of numbers......watch for "Vendor's" statements of "matching-numbers".......ASK as this may not be matching "Original" numbers but only a set of re-numbered parts. ("Yep George.....hand me that engraver over there and will have us a "matching-number Parts-Kit.....yep"). Also....do your "homework"....as the war progressed....fewer parts were numbered or stamped......and yes, "etched" part numbers can be "original".....it is very hard to stamp-numbers on heat-treated/hardened steel.

2: Condition of Finish and Parts:

A: Original-Finish from a WWII German contractor?
B: Refinished/Reblued or Parkerized?
C: Buffed-out machining marks?
D: Pitting or rust on Parts?
E: Condition of Barrel and chamber?
D: Condition of Bolt.....to include the condition of Bolt-face. (Note: An extra ring around the firing-pin-hole about 3/16" wide indicates that a lot of corrosive ammo was fired and a prime area where the primer can "flow" back into during firing.).
E: Condition of Butt-Stock? (type?...cracks?...loose-fitting?...etc.).
F: Type of Bipod? (WWII German......or Post-War).

Note: there are a lot of other parts and areas to check on a parts-kit for the MG34.......and be very careful of vendors using the words WWII German "Type"...or WWII German "Style".....these "buzz-words" indicate that what they want to say is "Not WWII German".....or "I do not know what it is". The book by "Folke" out on the WWII German MG34 and MG42 is a very good reference....I would get a copy to help sort things out.

Yes, thier kits are excellent.

Call Brian at BRP, he will match you up with exactly what you want. You just can't go wrong.

I have done business with him several times and been very pleased and can recommend him without reservation.

I have been trying to have "Brian" sort me out a "Matching" "Original-Numbered" MG34 Parts-Kit in VG or better condition for quite a few months.

They ("Brian") are very busy over at BRP Corp........getting replies to e-mails is getting farther between......and I have heard that "calling" does not help either.

In all reality, I believe as others, that BRP Corp. is too busy with the SA42 (second-variation), their newer SA42 "Kits", and their newer Full-Auto Thompson (look-alikes with tube-receivers set inside)....with a very small number of employees.....he may just not have time right now to use sorting through greasy piles of parts-kits...........but maybe he will be able to sort out the MG34 Parts-Kits in the near future?
All that we can do at this point is give Brian a little more time/space and let him get some work done?
....again, if Brian is reading this Board.....maybe you could send a short message to the Board ?

BRP kits come with the front saw cut part of the receiver. Worth the extra money IMHO.

I have 2 BRP kits. I have no complaints at all about them. I prefer them to Allegheny kits I have seen.

I haven't seen an AA kit but the BRP kits I have seen were very nice. Not buffed or polished. Good maker stamps and "matching" but forced matched. At least the ones I have seen. One had black paint all over the wood stock. The waffen amts also matched for the most part. AR-41 had mostly waa26 and DOT had mostly waa63.
