Is there some sort of gizmo that I can fit to my '42 Lafette so that I can put my MG34 onto it when I feel like it?
My tool kit is a small plus head screwdriver and a toffee hammer so no welding/bending/drilling/tapping or glueing!!
The basic mount itself is the same. The difference lies in the cradle for the MG34. The original MG34 Lafette had a yoke that could be rotated/turned, allowing the gunner to replace barrels. If you want to still use a MG42 Lafette for a MG34, it can be done with some (homemade) attchments. It will not be accurate historically, but would be a shooting platform. I had thought about making some simple attchments, but have not had the time to do so.
TNW makes a dodad that clamps to a 34 jacket and let's you use a 42 tripod. You lose the QCB use while on the pod. Oitr looks ok and it's a cheap way to mount up your gun
The Gremans made a retrofit cradle conversion kit to adapt the MG42 to the MG34 Lafette, but not the other way around. The conversion MG42 cradle kit I bought from Bergflak in the Netherlands looks like it was made from an MG34 cradle assembly.
TNW has a $25.00 little block that screws onto the barrel jacket in front of the receiver...It allows you to drop the 34 into the 42 Lafette tripod, and it works too......take a look......jw (bob)

Beautiful women are like well built machineguns: Some should just be looked at, and left alone, while others were built to get hot.
