"Form 4", probably can't be purchased by mere mortals.
The ad writer makes some confusing statements. Aren't ALL MG34's "select-fire"?
The gun does have some parts from the rare "regler" rate-reducing system. The pistol grip has the "slow/fast" button, or possibly "useless-hole plug" substitution. Was it built as a regler gun? Is the receiver the special one drilled and milled in the back for the rate-reducing system? Any other of these special parts inside the grip and receiver?....Phil

A gun listed on a Form 4 is the standard transferable gun. If your state allows you to have an MG, one that's on a Form 4 is it. No dealer licensing is necessary to own it. If you have a Curio and Relics license, the gun can be transferred to you from Virginia to your state without going through a dealer, which saves you the $200 transfer fee (seller to dealer: one fee, dealer to buyer: another fee), and leaves you with only one fee (seller to buyer).
Can't say it wasn't done, but I haven't seen a 34 that was full auto only. A lot of long time owners have had their guns before books and information were readily available, and they only know what someone told them long ago. As we all know, some people will gladly tell you more than they know.
Regarding the questions about the receiver, send the seller an email, but don't be surprised if he really doesn't know what he's talking about.

Something very odd with the barrel jacket markings on this 34.
With that serial number it should be coded '936' not BSW and dated 1939!
No Mg34 was ever made as early as 1934, very strange indeed!

Its been faked up. Look at the fonts on the numbers in various locations. Also note the serial number on the bipod.....never seen one numbered like that. You're right, the guy hasn't got a clue about the trigger. They are all (normally) select fire, not full auto only. The MG42 has no semi setting and neither do guns in Connecticut due to state regs but normal is semi/full ( E einzel-semi, D Dauerfeuer-full)
