Hi everyone, new to the board and new to MG34's. My grandfather was in WW2 and passed away back in the 90's. He left us some old WW2 era pistols, bolt action rifles, ammo, and gun parts. I was the only one interested in the parts, so I got all of them. Most of it is Mauser stuff, but lately I've been doing some research, and I finally figured out that this little green box is full of MG34 parts. A little more research and it looks like it is a pretty complete "V-Kasten", like the one described on this site: http://www.bergflak.com/ezvkasten.html (as well as the crosshair).
Considering that I don't have any other parts, and have no time for a new hobby, I want to sell it all and buy the best AR I can with the money (something I can justify having, and my grandfather would have agreed with).
My big concern is the legality of owning/selling these parts. From what I can tell, a full auto receiver is the illegal part in the US, but I read murmurs about full auto sears being questionably illegal for AR's. It appears that there are 4 sears in the set. If they are illegal, I'll happily destroy them or hand them over to the ATF etc, I just don't want to break the law without knowing it.
If any of you have knowledge or experience on the subject, please give me your thoughts on which (if any) of these parts you would be comfortable selling on ebay or gunbroker. Ideally I would sell it all at once (out of convenience, and because it started as a set), and probably selling the kit and bolt in one listing and the crosshair in the other. But again, if I need to exclude some parts I will. If any of the parts are illegal, what am I supposed to do to avoid prosecution since I've made it public? Take them to the local police department?
Also, if anyone on here is interested and makes a fair enough offer (assuming it's legal), I'd be happy to avoid gunbroker/ebay and help out a member of this forum since this is where I got most of my information.
Thanks!
Billy

As by my understanding everything that you have in that box is legal to own. The MG34 receiver is the bad part. Unless cut up to ATF standards. But this parts kit is legal as far as I understand.
That said I'm sending up a pm (private message) about this kit and someone that might be interested.

Re: MG34 Parts Kit "V-Kasten"
He isn't saying he has a receiver, he's comparing M16 sears to MG34 parts, which is not a valid comparison. M16 sear or AR15 drop in sear (unregistered) can be trouble. Drop in sear that is registered = no trouble. Trigger assembly and/or small parts for an MG34 = no trouble.
I see nothing in the pictures that is remotely questionable. NO receiver pieces are present. It's just a spare parts box filled with spare parts, a bolt, and a sight. Nothing really rare, but you don't often see the box full of parts like they used to be.
Sold as a full box would probably be less trouble than selling it as individual pieces. The bolt and sight could be sold separately from the box full of parts.
Still, there's nothing there that can't be duplicated by shopping and spending a lot of time to accumulate the same stuff.
