Allegheny Arsenal kits

Post by scott shoop »

I recently purchased a kit from them and the kit was absolutely supurb. The finish on this kit was almost 100%. I have never done business with this company, mainly because of the guy that represents the company that comes to the MG shoot in Knob Creek. He has never been too personable and that is not what I expect of a company. To the point. Are all of their kits this good? Does anyone know the history of where these 34 kits come from. What was the trail from the capture at the end of the war to our hands now. This is very intriuging to me as a historian. What about the 42 that have come into the country? I own Folker's book, but it doesn't delve into this issue. Thanks in advance. Scott Shoop

I suspect that your MG34 kit has spent most of the post war years in some military warehouse in Bulguria as Allegheny gets most of their kits from there.

I got one from there last week. Really nice finish, but unfortuneatly a so so bore. Barrel shroud markings were scrubbed too except for a serial number. All mismatched number for what that's worth.

I got a nice 39 dated BSW code. This gun virtuelly looked brand new. Grips were mismatched (brown/black). The top cover was new looking as well. Everything was nicely packed and shipped. I am looking to get some more kits from them, but was curious if this was a fluke kit. Bulgaria huh? Did they get these kits years ago or are they recently acquired? I am looking for an AR or BNZ kit. I have a shroud that only has a serial marking on it. The book says that all guns were marked with the year. It doesn't appear to be ground off. There is no indentation on the metal signifying grinding. Any help.
thanks
