I was asked about dimensions for the FP sear trip pin. I build these on an old Atlas lathe because rescuing old ones that have had the rivet head broken by removal can be a lost cause staying put some times.The new pin must be supported on the bottom of the bolt recess just as the underside of head makes contact. The counter bore in the pin head allows the head rim to be peened into the locking recess.Though the pin should be a snug fit in the bolt head, the sear lever should not be tight on the shaft. Takes a little fitting but is worth the effort. JH

is this the only pin in the bolt head that you've had to remake? also is there a source for a spring or do you substitute another? I honestly have never had to do a rivet before are you using a punch to peen the head open like that?

The firing pin trip is the most commonly replaced pin in the bolt head IMO, so it is the one I make the most. The recess in the pin head is cut on the lathe. The recess-09 allows the lip of the pin to easily be riveted into the locking recess by removing excess metal from the center of the pin. JH
