For the WW2 part it normally went the other way due to the large numbers of 42's coming out at the end of the war. So, I think not..
However for us to think about something to hook on and mount a 34 to a 42 tripod I understand the want..... Problems and things to think about... Anything that is made to do above, has to keep the guns fire parallel with the direction that it went before. I.e. you don't want to change the angle of fire. Therefore new rear tripod mount setup, new trigger set up also..
Yes, been thinking about it also..

The mount was designed for the 34,when the 42 came into service, the top section was redesigned for it.Both were in use at the same time. You can put the top section from a 34 lafette on the 42 lafette, but it has been a while since I have seen just that piece for sale, you also need the trigger mechanism. I have seen pictures of an adaptor for the later post-war tripods, but none for the wartime one.Pictures of the wartime 34 mount show it to be more complicated than the 42 style, with the differant methods of barrel removal. ---bil

On the mg34 piece I posted about that last week,

But as stated you still need the back trigger group..
