MG34 Nightmare of issues's, easy fix?!?!

As far as im able to break it down, I cant seem to get the firing pin out

Hoping to get it up and running properly so I can hit the range again. And again as I mentioned I had to take these pics in hurry seeing I have....5 hrs of sleep before Im at work again. Hope this helps and thank you folks for th help.

Thanks, I had to be quick with them since Im on a hectic schedule and lucky to get 5 hrs of sleep on a good work night. Time is really not an issue, Ive been wanting a mg34 since I was 8 yrs of age. Thirteen years later, I finally managed to find one at an awesome price w/ extras (less then $1800) , so waiting is not an issue. My only worries is finding the parts (Hopefully I wont have to order any) at a reasonable price. And since ammo is getting hard to come by, im trying to bulk up on as much ammo as possible.

I got currently about 800-900 rnds of 53 dated yugo. I'm finding bulk yugo for about $300-$400 per 900 rnds so once pay day hits ill snag some up. Its crazy how 2 yrs ago before I left for BCT / AIT i paid $375 for 1200 rnds and now id have to pay +$500 for that same amount .

BTW I talked to Stan from Project Guns, and I explained to him the issues my gun is having. His response was it was not well lubricated and im using bad ammo. So I gave Brian at BRP a try and from what I told him he sai it sounds like it could possibly be the top cover if its not feeding right and giving the bolt issue's. Said if he had the time to look at it he would...but he doesnt.

After all we did narrow it down to either the bolt or the top cover, now to figure out what exactly the issue is.

Well your bolt looks fine. I dont see anything out of the ordinary with it. Silly question but I have to ask, when you close the top cover are you sure the bolt slot is lined up with the rail on the top cover?
Im just trying to think of why the bolt would get stuck rearward. Thats a major hangup especially when you consider the force of the recoil spring behind it.

Im assuming it is lined up, because I did manually cycle some rounds threw it manually with no issue's. However I did notice that when I pull the charging handle back all the way it (bolt aswell) does tend to stick if i slightly lift it up. But it wont stay locked back and then it slams forward. Possible I need a new recoil spring? I measured mine out and its 17 1/4 inches long, and looks worn to me.

is your mainspring straight if not it could be binding up

There is a slight bend towards the rear in the spring ill post a picture tonight. But I didnt know that it could affect it.

So far im looking at getting a pin for the recuperator, and definantly NEED split pens for the tigger group to mount to receiver. And possibly a new spring depending on what you guys think. Also I dont have the split pins for the trigger group to hold it in the receiver, if that makes sense (if not I have the female pins installed, but not the male / split pins), is it an issue? The bolt isnt the issue from what Flemgunner said. So that being said what else do I need to take pictures of to help us out?

i had a 22 with a bent spring and would bind up so tight i had to hit the bolt handle with hammer to get it to close

Here is the recoil spring. Its a bit bent and looks worn to me. What do you think? still worth it or do i need to get a new one?

you spring looks fine but not sure is that a ww2 spring

Hi cbass, a couple items: TNW's fire from a closed bolt, and there is no bolt holder - you have to pull back the charging handle and let go of it. It seems to me that your bolt is sticking because your ejector pin is hanging up on the ejector plate. If you had your bolt modified by TNW, they might have installed a new ejector as they did on mine. This has to be fitted to the gun/plate because their new one was wayyyy long on the outboard end. Each bolt/receiver/pin/plate interface is unique. You should be able to remove the firing-pin and spring now. How did you get the clip off without a hydraulic press against the tension of the mighty TNW coil spring? I'd look into getting that apart to inspect the assembly. Finally, be sure to follow the loading sequence: Hold (or block) the handle back, then lay the belt into the feed tray. Then unblock, let go. If you put the ammo in first, then charge it, there's already one lined up in there. It will try to feed two at once, and jam up as it tries to ratchet over the extra round. Hope this helped....Phil

This is not a TNW mg34, its from Project Guns. Also I was not loading the weapon like you told me to do, so ill give that a shot and hopefully it work Also not having a recuporator pin to hold it in place is that an issue or no?
