What is the best/safest brand/type of .308 to use in a SA MG-34?

I would trust current US manufactured 7.62x51mm NATO ammo.

I bought 5 makes of modern .308 to run through my MG42 to see which ran best. They were all the same, except for the stuff in the dark green plastic battle packs of 200 rounds each. It was slightly more powerful, and the rate of fire was just a little faster.

I have heard the newly manufactured Romanian 8mm should be avoided; anyone heard that rumor? Also heard some of the Russian 762 steel cased stuff does not work well. Comments?
