Safety switch

I'm trying to tear down a 34 and can not get the safety switch out to be able to remove the entire trigger group. I know there is a tab on the shaft that has to be aligned correctly, but I can't get the switch to pull out. Anyone know the correct way of removing the safety switch?

The slot is in about the 7:30 8:00 position when looking at the saftey slector.
