mg34

Post by phil_uk »

Hi everyone,

Not been on here for a while, but i have a chance of purchasing a couple of mg34s,the first is a 936 code and dated 1940, can anyone tell me if this code rare or common?, and the other is CRA 1943, again rare or common? the most i have seen about over here are all DOT 1943, i am awaiting more pictures which il upload, i will be purchasing one or the other, so want to know which one really i should go for?

any advice much appreciated
thanks
Phil

Hello,

A lot depends on the condition+ whether parts are re-numbered or not. The 936 1940 one is the rarer one, i would say, but if the cra 1943 is all matching and unmessed with, it may be a better option. You would have to upload pictures for us to help anymore as it really depends on how much the guns have been messed with.

It wouldnt hurt to pick up a copy of Folke Myrvangs "German Universal Machineguns" either, there is a respectable breakdown of makers codes and production figures. There are also in depth chapters on accessories, mounts, stoppages, etc. If you're not familiar with it, it covers both the MG34 and MG42.
