MG 34 barrel jacket

I still need to clean the cosmoline out of my kits, I am planning on using solvet and a brush, for the inside of the barrel jacket I'll probably use a 12 ga cleaning rod kit with a rag taped onto that to match the inside diameter so I can swab it out....Chris...

If you can find one the nylon brush used to clean out the gas tube on a 240 will work, out last the shotgun bronze brush, and it will fit on a GI cleaning rod.

stick a metal rod down there and have it force a rag through the shroud.

I agree with striker, just use a rag. Also, a lot of guys like to boil things in degreasers. I just was my parts kits with Hot water, a bottle of dish soap, and some rags. Works perfectly fine.
