About the MG34 bipod

Post by JBaum »

I don't have an MG34 and I'm finishing up a manual for it..... can the bipod spin completely around while attached to the MG? In other words, when it's on the barrel housing, will it rotate 360 degrees?

From what the manual says, it sounds like the bipod will fold and hook on the mount, but when it hangs free, it will twirl completely around if you turn it.

The latest manual, the 1937 MG34 (D 127/1), will be done in another day or two. This one has a bunch of pictures showing it the bicycle and motorcycle mounts.

Coming up next (about a month) is an MG42 manual with complete exploded views showing every nut, bolt, spring, rivet, and small part and where they go.

jbaum yes it will rotate 360, I have seen an early 42 bipod that will do the same if it is hanging down and both legs are pressed together then twisted/spun.

Thanks, what they said makes sense the way I read it then. Sometimes when translating, the same word can mean several things, and without the item in front of me, it's impossible to know exactly what is correct. Considering that people pay money for my work, I think it's only fair to make sure it's right before I sell it.

I'm numbering the pages now, then I'll rearrange them for printing. I'll have this manual on my website by tomorrow night.

I just scanned in all the pics for the next MG 42 manual tonight. 93 pages in the original, and it will likely be very close to that for the translation.

This is the manual with the exploded parts views, showing all the pins and spring and each little part. Should be the perfect thing for somebody with a parts kit who wonders "Where does THIS go?" and if he's missing anything from the kit.
