MG34 barrels from Sarco
MG34 barrels from Sarco
Anyone here received any of the Sarco barrels listed as New Israeli and Good WWII? Just wondering what the real condition is. Thanks.
I bought two. Both are chrome lined new old stock. Make sure you order those. I believe they also have used but I would not get them unless you are there to look at them. I want to note that they seem tighter than the ww2 ones I have so I guess you may have to try a couple of bolts. They look like they should last a long time and will be used in my semi instead of the WWII ones.
I bought two new Izzys and a used german barrel about two months ago. The Izzys were new and covered in preservative inside and out. The german one had a little frosting in the grooves but had strong sharp lands. If it didn't have that little bit of corrosion I'd rate it excellent. It's in about the same condition as the barrel that came with my kit from Allegheny Arsenal.
Finally received my barrels and belts a few days ago after tracking down my package from being delivered to the wrong address. Sarco put the wrong street address on shipping label, quite an ordeal, details later. On the good side, my barrels and belts are excellent. Israeli MG34 barrels are new with minor handling and storage marks and absolutely mint bores. Barrels had a layer of cosmoline and you could tell these baked somewhere in the Israeli desert as the cosmoline was "cooked" on and very difficult to remove completely. Belts are mixed, some new, some slightly used. Belts were a little dirty, some had cosmoline applied, but all cleaned up perfect. Very pleased overall, barrels are great. I'll post some pics and more details this weekend.
to ord-solut.. Sarco barrels.
This is reply to original Q. about sarco barrels.
I purchased a barrel(good ww2) 10 belts and 5 starter tabs.
Barrel is in good condition with approx. 70-80% rifling intact! Only detraction was all the dirty birds were ground off along woth some serial # marks(and outside reblued, good). It still had the codes marked right by the locking collar. 4 of the ten belts were ww2 german marked, the rest I beleive are yugo post war. 2 of the tabs were ww2, the rest chech. Still I felt all was good deal for price and they seemed to try and give as much ww2 items as they could.
