Welded

Post by Feldwebel 34 »

Hello All!
I just recently got my MG 34 "non-gun" and wondered if it is customary for the reciever to be welded to the barrel and barrel shroud? I am not sure if it is, but I darn sure can't get it to swing open. I also find that that some little vandal has spent much time with a hammer and punch as well as emery paper eliminating as many waffen amts as possible. I am thinking of maybe assembling my own display weapon from a machined reciever and parts kit. Any recomendations?
Also, I have seen guns displayed with a carrying handle attached to the base of the barrel. Is this a WWII accesory or a post war item?
Thanks in advance and I wish I had found this forum before I had made my purchase!
Regards,
Eric

I got a parts kit and then I got a dummy reciever fron allegheny arms. They use a real reciever that they weld back together. You have to send them your buffer and charging handle so they can weld them in.I can change the barrel. They weld it so you can't put the bolt in It's a nice set up.
