Top Cover Pin & Screw Needed

Post by hatrick »

My TNW MG34 has the top cover pin that does not have the screw that holds the feed tray on (I must have a later version top cover pin where the feed tray just slides over the pin but isn't actually locked in place) and I was wondering if anyone has or knows where I can get a top cover pin with the retaining screw??

I use my MG34 for reenacting and it would be nice to be able to have the top cover tray locked onto the gun with that retaining screw.

Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks,
Eric

I don't remember where I saw the picture of the pin you have but I believe it is an Izzy modification. Kind of a large pan-head screw that goes into the end of the pin. Correct? Try a hardware store, if your pin come out, you can take it with you.

Ok duh.. I read yours again after looking for the pic. FAC has top cover pins. You could get one ant drill and tap the end. Look for a screw first so you know what tap you need. Shouldn't be too horrible to do.

So Am I correct in understanding that original top cover pins never had any retating screw to hold on the feed tray??

Thanks,

Yes, to the best of my knowledge it was a post-war alteration. Is a good idea though.

Have the screw type on my TNW. Had to loctite the screw because it kept shaking loose when firing.
