Aluminum Grips

I know I saw this subject discussed in the past, but I just can't locate it. I have seen a set of aluminum grips on an MG34 and wanted to know the story on these. I shouldn't ask these things, but I keep buying parts instead of the manuals and refernce books.

Are they post war replacements or some sort of field expedient or Yugo replacement?

Opinions please.

I have always believed, alhough without substantiation, that those aluminum grip panels were postwar.

No idea what country was responsible for them.

Well, at least I found the previous thread on the subject - from MG42 section and titled - "how much rust is too much rust". That thread had an MG42 with similar aluminum grip panels.

I will assume they are a post war mod from some third party country.

anyone know where to find them? They would look great on my tanker model.
