I was shooting my MG34 thisafternoon when it began to malfunction. It failed to completely eject the case and then attempted to feed a round in next to it.
Well after several minutes of changing bolts, checking ejectors and receiver cams and the like I saw that the dustcover that covers the ejection port, and is held out of the way by a spring, had split in half at the point where the spring bears against it. Of course then the two pieces of the little door were free to flap about and apparently did so, interfering with ejection.
I duct taped the thing to the side of the receiver and continued shooting as before.
I have owned this gun since 1979 and it always manages to do something odd.
