SA MG-34 firing pin strength/endurance and treatment...

Post by junglewalk »

Last weekend in tullahoma, Tn, during a WWII re-enactment, my firing pin broke while firing........What is everyones position on 'Dryfiring' these sa guns ??? :?

Before the battle, I trained my assistant gunner on the gun, as a result, I dryfired the gun many times.. Did I cause damage to the firing pin, and maybe a hairline crack was created ?????
What do you guys think ???....It's a TNW gun ........jw (bob)
Beautiful women are like well built machineguns: Some should just be looked at, and left alone, while others were built to get hot.

The firing pins in the TNW 34s are originals. At least mine are.
As far as dry-firing goes, in a FA configuration, the gun dry fires everytime the bolt closes on an empty chamber. In TNW's set up there is no other way to decock the firing pin.

Great men are born in fire, it is the privilege of lessor men to light the flame, no matter the cost
