The original rubberized plastic-like covers are far too britle to use anymore, so most of us use the new MG-3 covers, which are a tad loose on the flash hider, but they work. Using an old one from WWII runs a great risk of splitting it and ruining it, since it has no elasticity left in it. MG-3 covers in black plastic are cheap and easy to find. Robert at RTG has plenty, and one of us can probably spare one or two of them.
