MG3 still going strong in Pakistan
Just like the Energizer Bunny, it keeps going and going and going....
Pakistani paramilitary troops patrol during a search operation in Acheeni, an area of Pakistani Khyber tribal region along Afghan border, Saturday, July 18, 2009. The tribal region is home to the famed Khyber Pass, a major transit route for fuel and supplies headed to U.S. and NATO troops in Afghanistan. Militants have routinely attacked vehicles along the pass.

Re: MG3 still going strong in Pakistan
ya think the German soldiers fighting in 1944 woulda thought the Pakistani army would be using essentially the same gun 65 years later a quarter way around the world?

John-have you had to translate any of your manuals into Pashtu or Hindi or whatever they speak? This could be a new source of revenue!

Re: MG3 still going strong in Pakistan
Today at a gun show I picked up (and bought) a box containing 10 50-round belts.
When I checked the marking I discovered the belts and tabs were all marked "POF".
It is the first time I have run across that stamp!
The belts appear new.
I am not sure how they ended up here in the USA.

Hey Rich I may be wrong but I think J &G had this with the ammo in the belts & in the original cans recently I still have a boat load of 8mm ammo so I dont buy any new arrivals but I think I remember seeing it there
Re: MG3 still going strong in Pakistan
Well, in the past we have seen millions of rounds of 7.62X51 come out of India, so I suppose we may now see some ammo come from the other party in that conflicted region!
Hopefully not all Pakistani ammo has primers like a lot of the .303 have!

I have been in Pakistan in 2006 on holiday. There are some really nice guns to see .... here a picture of the police in Gilgit.

Re: MG3 still going strong in Pakistan
I shot through a can of the Pakistan ammo a couple of weekends ago. Had of couple of fail to fires, but the primers weren't hit. Maybe a weak spring or a dirty chamber.wiselitearms wrote: Hopefully not all Pakistani ammo has primers like a lot of the .303 have!
The gun wasn't mine, I just had the great opportunity to fire it. It was filmed in slow-mo, so here I am on youtube:

Does a post sample need to stay one caliber? I'm not really up on SOT rules. Maybe he felt it would be safer to stick with the NATO caliber for replacement parts.
Funny thing is another guy brought his 1919 Browning chambered in 8MM. The American gun running German ammo, and the German gun running American ammo
