Here is one of me! Very happy. I wish it was a legal full auto instead of a Semi, but here in Washington we reeaallly cant have full autos. It's actually in the state Constitution. How lame is that. I should quit whinnin I couldn't afford a legal 42 anyway!

Matt,

Great pics, you did a real nice job with it and with a Coldsteel receiver blank no less. That is almost like starting from scratch.

Have you tackled another project since the '53?

I think about 10 states preclude the legal ownership of a class III firearm, you know how it goes-in those states the legislatures want the criminals to have all the fun.

Hey Matt,

Great looking rifle.

You put it together from a raw/blank receiver??

Looks great!

WOW :wnana: My Cold Steel square tube wouldn't have even made a good mail box post. And hey, we won't be out in the yard testing the winter's builds for another 3 months here in Maine :(

Yes I did manage to get a Coldsteel blank turned into an actuall rifle. It only took about 16 hours to cut out all the slots and holes and make the Semi mods then another few weeks of learning curve to do the firing pin mods and turn undersized boosters to get the recoil up to cycle the weapon. I really have to give a lot of credit to the people on this forum for Information and Ideas. I has some mad ninja gun skills, but it really helps when there are lots of ideas and people making head way and "sharing" their Ideas! We should really give an atta boy to ourselves here. I would name some names but would be afraid of leaving someone out!

Prussia:
As of now I am copying a few fire control parts to finish a Fal lower, I am not sure what I am going to do with it but I am sure I will think of something. I really need to raise funds for a 1919A4 kit! I hope to order a kit really soon before they go up or run out at Sarco.

Darvs: Yes I suppose having a "BLAST" with your buds is what its all about!

Railsplitter: I will never whine about the weather here ever again!

That is a great job you did on it. I wouldn't have know you built it from such a basic material.

I envy yah on your mad ninja skills.

...and while I have been around the boards here for almost a year...it is impressive the amount of ready and available knowledge this board has.

This place is definitly the first resource I go to for a large range and depth of info

Thanks guys! I will be the first to admit it looked more like it was hammered into shape then shipped out! Also the inside dimentions were off just slightly. I had to file all the way throught the thing for about 6 hours just to get room for the rails to fit correctly. That was just the start. Then the cocking slot area and "bumps" if you could call them that, well lets just say I considered cutting the section out and making my own. As it was I had to weld on the bumps to raise them out so I could make a slot for the cocking handle to run in. In the end I was able to weld, cut, grind the thing into submission. There were a few moments when I had my doubts, but on my limited funds there was no cheaper way and no way I was going to be able to buy a wiselite or similar section. For the people here who have coldsteals with serious issues I would be willing to fab rifle recievers for them if and when I get my 07FFL (manufacturer of firearms) I have not heard back from the BATF with my app yet so don't get too excited. I would offer to do some of the work to make it an 80% but the legality of such makes saying when too grey an area. I may resubmit my request for the forms.

Matt,

That is pretty amazing you managed to get it to work and it looks pristine and professionally done.

As for awaiting word from the ATF...it was a bit of hassels to just get my C&R.

I used the website twice to request the paperwork...waited months...called...they had no record of the request.

Got it sent to me...I promptly filled it out...took a little bit...but they did have it and process it.

Got the paper...it had a message to wait for the followup documentation if this is your first licsense...so I don't even think to use the licsense until I get it.

wait wait wait...call...they say to wait...I wait wait wait...call back, they had to order it for me...got it...but it had notes in it saying items are on backorder and to call to get put on a list...

Guess they are swamped with tons of request

noonxnoon: Thanks for the info! I will have to resubmit and then call if that doesn't work. I imagine more people than ever are trying to get there C&R and Manufacturers licences. Now that guns are Americas best sellers!

Matt, did you request the paperwork from their online 'shop' and are waiting for that, or did you get the paperwork and they are processing it?

If you ordered it through the online 'shop', I strongly suggest you to call them to ask if your request went through.

Online, I ordered the form, got a request received and to expect it in the mail, etc etc.

long story short, two request online never seemed to reach their systems!

Hate to see you waiting for the mailman for your paperwork and you end up losing time.

good luck. Pretty cool to be going for a manufacturing license. I'd love to be able work with guns as a source of income.

When you get big enough, you can start making your own builds like WLA or BRP!

Don't forget your friends here!!

I won't forget! And yes I had better call them! I think at first it would be just for some side work, but I have always wanted to do this for a living. Besides with pirate clear down in florida that means we need someone clear up on the other side of the United States!
