Myrvang's book "MG34-42 Universal Machine Gun" has a nice drawing of one in it with sizing. Also Jbaums manual's have a description of the sizes and such as well.
You can go to Jbaums website at
http://www.germanmanuals.com for lots of cool german manuals that he has translated. Some great books.
Or try to find Myrvang's book on amazon.com. You wont regret getting this book it is a wonderful reference.
Hope this helps.

The print for making the sling loop is in the MG42 Armorer's manual. Wire size, dimensions, etc.

I think that is the pin so that the MG34 bipod legs can be used on the MG42 bipod.

Page 130 of Folke's book has a pic but it is not much better than the ones you have. If I had to make one I would make it the same hight as it is when fitted to the block on the MG34.
I get the impression that this configuration did not last very long before the new bipods were introduced, so it will probably be a bit difficult to find a genuine one.

the first model bipod was use from 1942 to mi 1943.
After the new bipob arrived, soldiers on the field broke this pin which hurting the shoulder during transport of the MG42.
and the waffenmeister transformed the old bipod in a new one.
that's why to find this pin is scare now.

I have been looking for an early bipod stud for last few years and have had no luck. I asked several dealers in Europe as well as Marstar and all said they were unable to locate one. I have never seen a close up picture but from what I can tell from web posted WW2 pictures there seemed to be a couple of different styles. One style looks very close to a MG34 stud with a large round nut that the bipod legs go up against and another style without this nut. I think there is a wing nut on inside of receiver to hold in place. I asked Brian of BRP once and he said he didn't have any but I thought he said he had one in his collection. He may send pictures if asked. Maybe he would even make up a few if there was enough interest. Anyway, If you ever find one it would be great if you could post pics.
