Nice looking firearm. Did BRP make it or did you use one of their receivers and make it yourself.

No they made it but when I got it the rear lugs had been removed so I had to replace them. I'm currently trying to find the right cut of recoil spring to get it to fire reliably. I have shot about 200rnds through it but I want it to work very well. I did the grip stick work and the bolt mods like Pirates. It has the FAL fcg, I'm stil trying to working on getting a functioning dust cover.

Gunmetal,

That's a great looking 42!

About how long would you estimate it took you to put it all together?

Is there an echo in here? It seems that a working cover is something we will have to work on.I am sure that with the talents we have here,in won't be long before we start seeing progress on it. BTW,that is a very nice gun, congratulations. ---bil

I came across somebody's discussion and photos for a working dust cover when I first joined this board, but I can't find it now. I'm just not very good with this search engine, I guess.     Maybe somebody can find it.

I looked too but couldn't find the thread. It's gotta be here somewhere. I tried searching "dust cover" but that proved fruitless. I had fun reading some of the old posts however. My, how things have changed.

Look under the link for "MG42 FAQ". Then click on the tab for "Receiver". Some, or maybe all, of what you may be referring to is there. Those posts were originally copied from the weaponeer.net site when the first pics were posted of one of BRPs SA42s sometime in early 2004 IIRC.

My Working Dust Cover

What a conincidence! I'm updating my site this week but you should be able to figure out the pics - I've had it working for some time now.

Perhaps I should post this in the BIY section too...
