MG 42 (MG3) safety button
MG 42 (MG3) safety button
Hello,
I need some help.
Building 3D model and animation for MG3 (MG42)
everything clear with animations, but can't find photos of the grip frame in the place with safety button.
Can't understand how safety button works with its plunger
Here is the model I have
P.S. I already have 3D model of MG34, but it has another safety.

Re: MG 42 (MG3) safety button
When in the fire position the cut out allows the trigger sear to engage. When on safe the bar is solid and the sear cannot engage. Harry

Re: MG 42 (MG3) safety button
Are you looking for fa safety or semi safety. FA safety I will pull my grip stick apart and take pics for you
Re: MG 42 (MG3) safety button
I make FA model, If you can make some pics, it would be good, I will be able to share animations with you when I'll finish. ( I will create fire animation)Grapeape wrote:Are you looking for fa safety or semi safety. FA safety I will pull my grip stick apart and take pics for you
Please, make pics in 2 position Safety on and safety off. Interesting how safety plunger works with the frame.
Thank you.
Re: MG 42 (MG3) safety button
Here are several pics. I hope these helps. Let me know if you need measurements also.
Re: MG 42 (MG3) safety button
Thank you for pics. Now it is clear.
Also I have one more little question.
On some grips I can see the square hole for the insert under the safety button.
On some there is no such hole.
What grips it is better to make for MG 3 model?

my grip panels have the notch in them. can't help you with an mg3
Re: MG 42 (MG3) safety button
But do the notches in your grips are only in the inner part of the grips or they come through the whole grip like on left part of the photo with grips ?Grapeape wrote:my grip panels have the notch in them. can't help you with an mg3
Btw here is the link to video https://youtu.be/gMncKOnES7s
And if you like it I can give you an access to a program where you will be able to disassemble the model in 3D and check animations in Operation mode.

Those grip slots are found on Yugo grips,German both wwii and postwar dont have it though it is refrenced about in a old german manual issued at the end of the war then when the mg3 came out it was back the to original style..
