Wow, ya really don't see those much here in the states.. Awesome little MG ya got there!!
I'd sure love to have my '42 convert-able to 5.56.... Wish there were more of those out there, I'm sure a conversion would be more possible with them as a reference..
There aren´t too much of these. The guy who sold it to me, told me that there were done just 6000. And they are selling so fast that they are dificult to obtain now. The spanish began retiring them 2 or 3 years ago cause they are buing the fn m60 (is this posible?) but not quite sure about this. Here you have a pic of the trunion, and the barrel, the mechanism is very simple.

Definitely an interesting weapon! Wish they were importable over here.... But then from the sounds of it that wouldn't leave many for you guys... And we wouldn't get the barrels anyway..
They MUST have more barrels somewhere!!!!(The barrel is not a heavy one nor dificult to machine so I imagine that is possible to replace it if you have the knowledge).Any way I am sure somethay you will have your import ban removed and some amelis will arrive. Almost all our cetmes C are there(just a few sporties left here). Recently our Guardia civil (militariced police) changed their guns to berettas f92 and all the old stars were exported to be sold as surplus (maybe to you ). Next thursday I´ll post more pictures, and with more detail.
cool ameli ! man your lucky they dont chop up the recivers on those like our mg kits here.cdnn sports had the star pistols but at 169 bucks they got bought up right away .how much cash (euros) for a ameli? if i may ask.
Well I´ve been out so maybe tomorrow will post the pics i promised. The ameli started selling for some 1000 $ but it was selling fast so i had to spend 2000 $ on mine. Not cheap for a non firing mg but I think is worth. There are not too much of these amelis. In fact they are still in use in some units of the spanish army(I dont know if any other army has them)
It's a shame the Spanish army is retiring the Ameli.I have a test report about that MG in one of my old reference books. If I remember it had a few minor flaws but got a pretty descent grade. It weighs only 14.8lbs. and fires 900 to 1,250RPM.In the US it is known as the MG82 and also as the SPAM(Special Purpose Machine Gun) and manufactured by Odin International.
Well here are the pictures promised!!! sorry for that redish color but i dont have my photoshop in this computer. If you need a detailed foto of some part ask for it, i will do it. Hope you enjoy them.
:-P
pd. I reedit all the photos, redish color eliminated and a bit of sharpening. coming soon the mg side to side with ameli.

thank you very much for these pictures. is it alright to reuse them freely ? you don't mind or claim copyright ownership of them ?
are there any supplies of spare parts , specifically the feed-tray and topcover ? they look adaptable to the 42 platform . about how long is the topcover ? whats the distance between the loops on the feed-tray ? it definitely would be cool to get a 5.56 barrel made and adapt ameli parts onto a 42.
If it works out would it be legal for you to ship them out of spain ? would you be comforatable mailing them ? just thinking out loud.
"good , bad, .....I'm the man with the gun."
Its amazing anything works right around here with a bunch of
over-age juvenile delinquents running the place.
well you can use the pics as you wish of course!!!, If you need more detailed ones i can do it, no problem. I can do even more, a week ago I bought a m53 from germany(deactiveted as you can imagine ) so once it arrives I can make some pics of the feedtry and topcover next to the ameli ones.
I think is dificult to get spare parts for it but i can ask. Here in spain is not illegal to send parts from a deactivated weapon, but i dont know how it is to send them to the states, as you have that import ban. One thing that will be posible is to buy a full amely and send the small parts you need. There is one ameli is not with all the parts in one shop i know, but the feedtry and topcover are there. I may ask the price if you wish.

I was thinking something similar but w/ a hk93 as the parent firearm
