Finished my 42 post sample. Actually a 42/ Yugo 53 Hybrid

Post by TonyRumore »

I had it running one day after I got the parts kit, but it's been about 3 weeks before I got all the welds cleaned up and the thing refinished tonight.

The parts kit is a Yugo 53 but the rear section of the receiver is from a German MG42.

Looks really nice.

The finish is Norrell Moly Resin, greenish-gray flat. It looks just like parkerizing. My park tank wasn't long enough for it. My oven was about maxed out with that thing in there too.

I prefer to parkerize first, and then bake on the Moly Resin over the top. On guns with a lot of welds on them, you will normally see a shadow effect in the parkerizing where the welds were made. The Moly Resin will hide any shadows that you get from parkerizing over the welds. For that fresh factory look......... ;-)

Wow, I never would have guessed that it wasn't just parkerizing! Must be some nice stuff!! I might have to consider it...

Nice build ya got there. Wish I had the freedom to do the same thing without the cost and hassle of all the licensing.... (well, mostly cost) Have fun!
