United Breaks Guitars
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5YGc4zOqozo[/video]
In the spring of 2008, Sons of Maxwell were traveling to Nebraska for a one-week tour and my Taylor guitar was witnessed being thrown by United Airlines baggage handlers in Chicago. I discovered later that the $3500 guitar was severely damaged. They didn’t deny the experience occurred but for nine months the various people I communicated with put the responsibility for dealing with the damage on everyone other than themselves and finally said they would do nothing to compensate me for my loss. So I promised the last person to finally say “no” to compensation (Ms. Irlweg) that I would write and produce three songs about my experience with United Airlines and make videos for each to be viewed online by anyone in the world. United: Song 1 is the first of those songs. United: Song 2 has been written and video production is underway.

I fly Southwest,I have tried all the others, but as far as attitude, helpfulness, and price,Southwest beats them all for me.I only use others if Southwest doesn't go there. And the employees like their job.It is good to see that someone has finally found a way to get back at the company that doesn't care, too many just don't give a damn about the consumer.Earlier this year I had a problem with Bank of Amerika over a 5 dollar charge for cashing a check drawn on their bank. Before the day was over, they had my 5 bucks, but I bet it cost them over 500!

Re: United Breaks Guitars
As a professional musician I can empathize with this, furthermore coming from an airline family, I would not put a dead hobo on United, Northwest, Delta, or deplorably now UsAirways after America West bought them out. Or worse yet any bargain sh*tbag outfit flying on a shoestring budget with “napkin” logbooks where poorly paid/trained pilots literally only officially log broken equipment when flying to an airport where the carrier has chop-shop, out-sourced, contract mechanics doing their “work” on it.
The flying public has not a clue, one reason is because Boeing makes a damn good airplane with secondary and tertiary safety backups, as for Scarbus (Airbus) and their composite tail that keeps falling off and fly-by-wire control design, like the Comet, (the British post war civilian plane, not the Me 163), eventually the poor design of Airbus will come to light.
Bil Southwest has over the years become a good airline; morale is great because the workers are given a fair wage. Ironically they, and Continental, have emerged as being above many others, of course this was not always the case.
As for some United ramp-tramp breaking a beautiful Taylor guitar, that is just sickening
Great post Salt.

I was a former "ramp rat" at Northwest Airlines. The stories I could tell......www.Prussia.us wrote:As for some United ramp-tramp breaking a beautiful Taylor guitar, that is just sickening![]()

Re: United Breaks Guitars
Years ago as I was sitting and waiting for a Continental plane to fill, the lady behind me said 'Look at the way they are treating that bag!' I looked out and saw my bag, full of expensive tools, being tossed onto the moving belt and tumbling off onto the ground. It happened 3 times, and the guys were laughing! If I could have gotten off the plane I would still be in jail! Fortunately I had wrapped the stuff carefully and nothing got broken, just dunged up.They didn't care when I complained,I never flew with them again until last year, when I had to,they were the airline the company sent me on,no choice. The service hadn't improved one bit.Southwest is great, and last spring I even got to take 3 stewardesses with me when the flight was over![They needed a ride to Santa Monica and I was going that way....

Hey Salt6! This is one of the best posts ever. Sons of Maxwell ROCK. Love that sound!
Has anyone from United reacted to this song? If not, we could barrage their complaint department with email links to this video, sort of like Rick Rolling them.
