I thought they could have talked more about how the tyranny would need to be constantly propped up by endless war. Either against the American "Terrorists", the back stabbing Japanese, or the barbarian Soviet hordes. That is something mentioned in many other alternate histories that tackle this topic. A person could easily make an entire series alone on this subject.

As an alternate-to-your-alternate.....One of the best, most "believable", alternate-win scenarios was the 1994 movie "Fatherland", starring über-cool-perfect-NAZI-type-actor, Rutger Hauer:

Seen the movie and read the book. The book was much better.
In that scenario the enemy was the barbarian Soviet hordes who each year were always 1 defeat away from total surrender. America wasn't defeated per say. The invasion of Normandy failed and we signed an armistice (not a peace treaty). We then put our full attention on the Japanese and defeated Japan. The Cold War was between the former Allies and Nazi Germany.
