What does one TRILLION dollars look like?

Post by salt6 »

Through many dangers, toils and snares
I have already come;
'Tis Grace that brought me safe thus far
and Grace will lead me home.

Want another perspective? Try this.......

Assume a normal $100 bill is 0.003" thick
$1,000 dollars would be a stack 0.030" high
$1,000,000 would be 30" high
$1,000,000,000 (Billion) would be 30,000" high or 2.5 miles high
$1,000,000,000,000 (Trillion) would be 30,000,000" or 5,682 MILES high.

So if we laid this Trillion dollar stack of $100 bills along the west bound lane of Interstate 40 from its beginning in Wilmington, NC to it's end in Barstow, CA and another stack along the east bound lane back to Wilmington we would still have a stack of $100 bills 563 miles high left over.

Congress just increased our debt ceiling to 14.3 Trillion dollars - That stack would be 81,253 miles high.

If the earth is 24,901 miles in circumference at the Equator then we would be able to wrap the earth 3.26 times with the $100 bills contained in this new national debt.

It's high time that we get these idiots out of office

Now I know that Bush was no saint; on January 20, 2009 the national debt was $10.6 trillion but he inherited a debt of $5.6 Trillion from Clinton increasing the National Debt by $5 Trillion in 8 Years. Mr. Obama has bested this by increasing the National Debt by $3.7 Trillion in just one year.

It is estimated that the 2010 Census will show the population of the U.S. to be 309,162,581 men, women, and children. This means that every person will have a $46,254 stake in this debt.

We just need to increase the denomination on our notes to save paper, ink and printing costs.

Darvis , Its even worse than that.....

That note in the picture with the "AA" serial number was the first and last 100 Trillion series note printed on good quality German paper. The currency devalued so low so fast the Gov. couldn't afford to buy the good paper anymore.
I bought one of these off Flea-bay as a novelty, I'll break it out either as a joke,.. "I'll bet you 100 trillion dollars....." or as a teaching aid to try to get people to understand their Gov. issued paper confidence scam isn't inherently any more valuable or stable than Zimbabwe's.

This is an example of the inevitable future for every fiat currency ever created. I believe our time isn't too far off.

I read somewhere that there was a joke that used to circulate in Berlin in the 1920's. It went something like a woman took a basket and filled it with money to go buy a loaf of bread. The basket was so heavy she couldnt carry it anymore and left it outside the store. They went to help her bring it in and the basket was gone, but the thief left the money.

Read Remarque's 'The Black Obelisk' for an idea of what can happen when the money gets de-valuated to that point, and what the outcome can be.Interesting. ---bil

I don't still have the cartoon, but it went like this:

Obama is taking money out of a wallet and throwing it into the air for poor people to pick up.

The guy watching says to his wife: See honey? He's redistributing the wealth, just like he said he would!

Wife says to the guy: You dumba$$, it's your wallet!

Ross Perot knew it, he spent a bundle tying to educate the masses about it, but too many, were too stubborn to listen. BOTH parties screw-the-pooch when it comes to barrowing/spending, the record is as piteous as it is public, clearly showing it.

The biggest problem is the mutation over the past 25 years from capitalism to corporatism, without publicly financed elections and term limits, the Republic is in great peril.

Simply put:
Outside Money + Politics = Corruption
“… corporations have been enthroned, and an era of corruption in high places will follow, … until all wealth is aggregated in a few hands and the Republic is destroyed.”

The thing is, Bil, that Confederate Dollars are worth at least face value now because of their collector value. Probably a lot more!

After the Supremes said that a corporation was actually a person with Constitutional rights, does that mean if they merger it becomes a gay marriage?? :?
Seriously, with most corporations being foreign owned, and run by a board of directors, not stockholders, couldn't we get representatives that are actually 'elected' by a foreign company? Not saying we don't already [we do],but it would not be so secret [as if ].Revolt against the machine! ---bil

BIL, as often the case, you are RIGHT-ON CORRECT.

The Supreme Court revels in being activists when it comes to favoring corporations (regardless of ideology).

A Congressman’s base salary is $174,000 (YES, House and Senate members are BOTH Congressmen).

Average House seats will cost between $2.5-$5 Million, those donors want favors,,,,,, :? :? :?

Wait until the records start to show how the executive agencies under Bozo hid the safety flaws of Toyota several years ago, once again the much maligned legal community are going to be forced to sue and do the job that our feckless regulatory agencies (NITSA, NTSB) lacked the political will to do back in 2004-2006.

I haven't had the time to read that decision yet and digest it. My first instinct was how wrong could you possible be by saying a Corp. has constitutional rights. Then latter i realized they may have pulled a fast one on the Fed. Gov. which in reality considers us not to be individuals protected by the constitution but corporations that they can do pretty much as they please with.
you don't believe your a Corp. look at your name on a Gov. document. It will be in ALL CAPITAL letters. Thats not a typo its how the name of a corporation is shown.

A lot of tin foil hat stuff that I'm still sifting through. Down the rabbit hole I go..........
