That would be the Amoskeag auction in the US, they had two live 08/15's, a Live 08, and an example of the anti-tank rifle as the most interesting stuff in the whole catalog. :D

Next time you have to let us know before the auction so we can buy them and tell you what we paid :)

It says they will post prices the 29th.

Im told the really nice M.A.N. 08/15 went for $6250.00 (plus 15% fee) and the Anti-Tank rifle went for $5400.00 , still trying to find out what the other 08/15 and the MG08 (no mount, just the gun) went for. There were also some other interesting guns in the auction, including a dewat Lewis and a Hotchkiss portative, in .303.

Always interesting to follow the auctions, I was the winning bid on a Chauchat years ago with another auction house, and the auctioneer overlooked my faxed in bid and sold it for less $$ to a telephone bidder. I got a nice apology from the auctioneer about 2 weeks later after I brought it to their attention, after the list of winning bids had come out. I knew there had to be a problem when the winning bid was less than what I'd put in! I have no idea if the seller ever found out that happened, but the next up guy had already paid, (I had the funds, and they had my cc#, but had never run it as the other guy was the "winner" ) so I just shrugged it off. Still never have gotten a Chauchat.

Boy $6250... damn... its almost worth buying and breaking it up and selling it as parts and a side plate! That sure is cheap!

$5400 for the Anti Tank rifle seems so high to me. I just don't see why that gun brings so much. Don't get me wrong, I really want one for my collection but thats a lot of money for a gun that no one shoots and is not FA...

It will be interesting to see the prices. I would have also liked that MG08 parts box. I will have to keep my eye on this auction in the future.

You know I would like to get a Chauchat eventually too. I really don't know why but I would. That sucks that you should have won it. Oh well, with the way prices are going, who knows in the future.

The (sideplate, not C&R) Maxim MG 08 sold for...$ 5600.00. This had no mount, and was beat, but it's an 08. :mg:

Apparently the Anti-Tank Rifle sold for $5000.00, not $5400.00 as I'd first been told. (so for $600.00 more you could have an MG08! )

The 08/15's:

The MAN one sold for $6250.00- a really nice gun.

The Erfurt 1917 one sold for $7000.00 (Non-matching numbers, but a marked "Siemens & Halske" lock! Cool! Really odd homemade booster on this one)

Other WWI guns in the auction:

The BSA .303 Lewis DEWAT sold for $7000.00

The LaFrance remfg Hotchkiss Portative did not sell.

I've thought about it a number of times over the years, but I just haven't ever done it. I keep telling myself to get all of my guns perfect first!

This is crazy cheap! You could take the side plate off, get a M1910 kit and turn it into a 1910 and sell the MG08 parts kit and have a 1910 for like $5k! Thats a $20K gun! $5.6K is crazy cheap. It would have gone for at least double that a few years ago...

"Apparently the Anti-Tank Rifle sold for $5000.00, not $5400.00 as I'd first been told. (so for $600.00 more you could have an MG08! )"
Yeah still seems like a lot of money for a bolt gun, I don't care how big it is.

"The MAN one sold for $6250.00- a really nice gun. "
At least $2-3K under market rate of a few years back...

"The Erfurt 1917 one sold for $7000.00 (Non-matching numbers, but a marked "Siemens & Halske" lock! Cool! Really odd homemade booster on this one)"

Is the Siemens & Halske lock rare or something? Why is it worth noting? Yes I saw the home made booster!

You know a Digger went for like $3k a while back. I think it was a Marlin but for $3k thats still about the best deal I have heard of! I would love a Digger...

Well I hate to say it but it really looks like the bottom is starting to drop out of the FA market! I mean some guns are getting half of what they use to... and its getting worse or better (depending on how you look at it) quicker...

On the other hand,if it is a sign of the economy being bad, they may be more valuable to keep! ---bil
