That's a ZF12 sight for the Maxim 08

That's a ZF12, The standard telescopic sight for the MG08, made by a number of different makers. The leather eye cup looks a little the worse for wear, but all the rest is in pretty good shape, that one is made by Leitz.

If you look in the MG08 section of this website, there's several pictures of ZF 12 sights! Thanks for the link, that was interesting!

I know the buyer, a very keen gun man.
So I'm guessing NZ$555.00(aproxUS$380.00) is a high price to pay?

I've seen them go less on epay, not nearly the demand as 34/42 sights... Chris....

I would not say that is terribly high, that is in the range of market value, probably a little on the high side, but not outrageous. I've seen them go for $350 with case 10 years ago, to $500 and over with case, to $300 without. Like I said, it's in the range they're going for. Look on Ebay on completed auctions, you'll see several.

OF course, knowing the history of the piece should count for something.
