I have a sled dated 1917 manufactured by Durkopp. I think they are still in business,. IIRC they make sewing machines. During or before WWI they made sewing machines, bicycles and I think a little car.

When I restored my sled, one of the Durkopp shields was missing. I found an old iron sewing machine head on German ebay made by them that had the same little shield on it. I figured it was probably the same thing, struck from the same dies. It was. Cost me $100 or so just to get the damn thing here but it was worth it!

Thanks. Sled belongs to a MG08 I am looking at buying and was curious about the marking. This one is dated 1918.

Did a bit of checking and they are still in business - http://www.duerkopp-adler.com/en/main/c ... story.html
