Barrel Packing and oil/grease question

My 08 does leak a bit both at the muzzle and rear of the barrel, if someone could give me the idiots guide to packing it properly that would be much appreciated. Also to prevent any rust what type of oil or grease would you put on parts such as in the grooves where the backplate fits onto the receiver? There was a bit of corrosion in those backplate grooves/slots and I want to make sure that is stopped in its tracks and does not effect the blueing on the receiver in any way.

I like graphite faucet packing for the front. Its a good compression fit and it works well. I almost never leak out the front. The rear is a PITA. I have been going with Teflon cord but I still get leaks. I might try some high temp O-rings. You need something that has some expansion with it. I wind it real tight and hope it puffs out a bit after the barrel is in. A lot of trial and error...
After I am done, I clean everything with warm soapy water and then put a fan on it. The fan dries it right out. I would give the slot a good cleaning and oil it up good.
