mg13 help disassembling trigger group

Post by blckwlfny »

I managed to get my hands on an mg 13 lower. I need to disassemble it to de-crud it. I bought the translated german manual but it is not detailed enough. I know how to remove the automatic trigger the hammer, but that's all. can anyone tell me how to remove the wood grip and the trigger group?
thanks

it's easy. Give me a day or two and I'll post all the pics. There are definitely a few tricks to it.
Spell check is down and I'm too lazy to get the dictionary

As oak rodent notes above, it is not difficult, but circuitous, to remove the trigger group.
Hammer is removed by rotating its is pivot pin lever, withdrawing the pin and hammer lifts out.
There is a cross pin that acts as a stop for the hammer spring plunger, but this does not need to come out unless you want to strip the lower completely. It simply drives out with a drift.
There is a small access hole drilled vertically into the front of the trigger guard. Using an appropriate very small OD drift or piece of spring wire cut as a drift, insert and tap/push the interior stop out. This stop retains the sliding trigger guard. Tigger guard will now slide off the lower frame.
The "H" shaped auto sear piece centred in the lower lifts out after removing the twin springs on either side.
Centered behind the sear piece is the hammer release, with a small rectangular transverse lug that is attached to a spring loaded ring that slides on it's shaft. To remove this, unscrew the screw that is located at the outer rear of the lower frame next to the butt hinge. It is a large screw cap that sits flush with the metal surface when installed. Remove the cap and pull out the spring. Using a small tool, push the small pin fixed to the shaft just behind the transverse lug, moving it back into the slot provided and the shaft will slide out from the transverse lug/ring. Lift out the lug/ring. With the lug part removed, slide the bar shaft forward by the pin until it clears its housing.
The stop on the left side of the rear of the frame just inside from the safety lever, with the lower oriented looking from the back end, can be removed if the cap is removed and the spring drawn out of its recess. The cap is under the butt release lever at bottom rear of the frame. Release pivot and parts must be removed to unscrew the cap.
Good luck....
