newly acquired p-38
I found this locally and couldn't resist. Its an ac 42, all matching numbers except mag only says p-38. It could be arsenal refinished, but I cant find any evidence of buffing on it. Really a pretty crisp specimen. Bore is sharp. Bluing even. Question is. Was $400.00 a fair price? It seemed like it to me so I snatched it up. Never had one or a luger. Like a dumb### I sold my c-96 with matching shoulder stock a couple years ago and want to eventually replace it and find a decent luger. Anyway, Its easy to regret selling something but always exciting acquiring something else.

Even if this gun was reblued (and it probably was judging from the appearance), you did SPECTACULARLY well. My all matching vet-bringback AC43 P-38 cost me $650 and it has 25% bluing left (it looks very light grey), and I though it was a great deal for a worn, but honest gun (no counterfeit marks or alterations). Big Congrats.

Thanks for the reply DA, I am really quite pleased with it. Took it to the range and it functioned flawlessly with fmj rounds. I could actually hit better than with my 1911. They actually put pretty decent sights on them RR,

That is great, the last "good deal" at the national distributors was SOG's mismatch Russian capture P-38's last year for $379; of course those are long gone, now are the Century arsenal refurbed ones everywhere in the $579 range.
That was an excellent deal, well done
